Junction 29A links the M1 to the A6192 for Staveley and Markham Vale, where the old colliery site is now a business park. Duckmanton and Poolsbrook are close by, and Staveley is under two miles north-west. Chesterfield station is about three and a half miles west.

Markham Vale's business park has grown up around this junction, so it is used by people going to work, delivery drivers and visitors to the companies there.
