Woodall Services (M1 J30–J31)
Woodall sits on the M1 between Junction 30 and Junction 31 near Sheffield, in the Rotherham borough. It is run by Welcome Break and opened in 1968.
Three charging networks on one site
Woodall has the largest electric-vehicle provision on this part of the M1: Applegreen Electric, GRIDSERVE and a 16-stall Tesla Supercharger on the southbound side. The two sides are joined by a footbridge, though it is a free-standing structure not attached to either building, which makes the crossing a bleak one in bad weather.

The traffic around Woodall Services
The services sit on the stretch between Junction 30 and Junction 31, which the Department for Transport counts at 122,208 vehicles a day — the 20th busiest of the 42 measured stretches of M1 mainline. Of those, 18,862 are lorries, 15.4% of the traffic. For a while Woodall ran a Burger King, a KFC and a McDonald’s side by side, which almost no other service area managed. That window shut in March 2020 when the McDonald’s went. The murals inside were commissioned in the 1990s from the artist David Fisher to reflect local history.
