Toddington Services (M1 J11A–J12)
Toddington sits on the M1 between Junction 11A and Junction 12 in Bedfordshire, north of Luton and Dunstable. It is run by Moto, and it was Granada’s very first service area when it opened in 1964.
Two sites, and you can walk between them
There is a separate site on each carriageway, linked by a footbridge that was built with the motorway itself in 1959. That is worth knowing: at most motorway services, pulling in on the wrong side means going without.

The traffic around Toddington Services
The services sit on the stretch between Junction 11A and Junction 12, which the Department for Transport counts at 137,679 vehicles a day — the 11th busiest of the 42 measured stretches of M1 mainline. Of those, 17,508 are lorries, 12.7% of the traffic. Toddington was the site of the first transport café for lorry drivers on a British motorway, and its northbound Little Chef was the last one left on the motorway network when it closed in 2010.
